The defense and security issues in computer systems started almost at the same time those systems were invented. Be it Unix, DOS, Windows, Linux or Mac – they are all vulnerable to some extent.
The most popular ones are getting more hacking attention and the less prominent are getting less or even no attention at all. The numbers don’t matter that much, as does the possibility for any system to be hijacked, infected with viruses and broken remains.
Linux or Mac users might brag about their invincibility, but like one wise man said once, there isn’t a system that cannot be broken. All that it takes is time and effort.
On the other hand there aren’t any limits to the defense level that can be used in a system.
Besides running good antivirus + antispyware program one can also use advanced firewall (software and hardware level), network monitoring system and less services sensitive to online attacks.
